A second suspected Lithium Ion battery Rubbish Truck fire has caused the closure of an arterial road in Sydney's East.

A second suspected Lithium Ion battery Rubbish Truck fire has caused the closure of an arterial road in Sydney's East.

At around 7.45am this morning a contractor rubbish truck working for Woollahra Council dumped its load on Old South Head Rd on the corner of Military rd in Vaucluse after smoke could be seen from the rear of the vehicle.

Local builders assisted the driver with fire control after the rubbish was dumped on the road.

The road was closed for around 2 hours as cleaning and fire fighting operations were under way.

Just yesterday, a Woollahra Council truck was destroyed due to a lithium Ion battery fire. The fire today is suspected to be from the same cause.

Council workers sifted through the rubbish pile however were unable to locate the source of the fire today.
