Waverley police are investigating an alleged assault on Bondi Rd in Bondi Junction overnight which has ended with a man needing hospital treatment. Police are searching for the offender.

A man has drowned and a female rescued after a large wave swept them off rocks in Bondi Beach this afternoon.

Emergency services and lifeguards rushed to the scene but could not locate the man who was underwater near the edge of the rocks.

Police are stunned that no one was injured or killed when a vehicle rolled off the roadway and crashed over the barrier in Bondi Beach at around 10.45am today.

It's understood the car's handbrake failed when a female went to exit the vehicle following a minor accident.
