Child bitten by suspected Funnel Web Spider in Cooper Park, Bellevue Hill

A young child has been transported to hospital after a mother reported her child being bitten by a Funnel Web spider in Cooper Park, Bellevue Hill today.
The mother administered first aid and worked to keep her child calm whilst two ambulances responded.
A splint and compression bandage was applied by Intensive Care Paramedics prior to transportation to Sydney Children’s Hospital.
The quick and calm actions of the mother helped ensure the child had the best outcome.
Woollahra Council workers confirmed that both Funnel Web and Mouse Spiders are present in Cooper Park.
A family spokesperson stated that the child is back home and that this was not a Funnel Web bite.
Residents and visitors are reminded to stay on marked trails and be aware of native species of venomous spiders in this area.
