Woman dies after being hit by car in Maroubra
A woman has died after being hit by a car in Sydney’s east this evening.
Shortly before 5pm (Friday 22 September 2023), emergency services were called to Fitzgerald Avenue, Maroubra, after reports a pedestrian had been struck by a car.
On arrival, a woman – believed to be aged in her 70s – was located with critical injuries.
She was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics, however she died at the scene. She is yet to be formally identified.
A female driver was not injured, and was taken to hospital for mandatory testing.
Officers attached to Eastern Beaches Police Area Command established a crime scene, which will be examined by specialist police from the Crash Investigation Unit.
Fitzgerald Avenue remains closed, with local diversions in place.
An investigation is underway into the circumstances surrounding the crash, anyone who may have witnessed the incident or may have dashcam footage is urged to contact police or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
