Man arrested for high range drink driving following crash in North Bondi
Shortly after midnight (Friday 1 September 2023), emergency services responded to reports of a vehicle crashing into a parked camper trailer along Murriverie Road, North Bondi.
The 18-year-old female passenger was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics. She was taken to St Vincent’s Hospital in a serious but stable condition.
The driver – a 21-year-old man - was uninjured and was taken to Waverley Police Station where he is assisting with inquiries.
Officers from Eastern Suburbs Police Area Command established a crime scene that was later examined by specialist police from the Crash Investigation Unit.
Following inquiries, the 21-year-old man allegedly returned a positive reading of 0.158. The man was charged with drive with high range PCA and cause bodily harm by misconduct, in charge of motor vehicle.
He was granted conditional bail to appear before Waverley Local Court on Tuesday 26 September 2023.
Police have also suspended the man’s driver licence.
