Man in serious condition after alleged assault in South Coogee

A 56-year-old man was knocked unconscious after an alleged assault in South Coogee overnight.

At around 7.00pm residents came across a man who was unresponsive outside his home in Iluka Place.

An off duty nurse rendered first aid and emergency services were contacted.

Police arrested a male who is alleged to have assaulted the victim.

Intensive care paramedics treated the male and a specialist medical team landed by helicopter to assess and treat the patient.

The male was sedated and transported to hospital in a serious condition.
